Moon Phases Germany 2027: Every Full Moon and New Moon
All 49 moon phases for Germany in 2027, in local Berlin time — full moons, new moons and quarters, month by month, with their traditional names.
SaveMondkalender 2027 at a glance
This is the full list of moon phases for Germany in 2027: 13 new moons, 12 full moons and all the quarter phases in between. Every time is given in local German time (Europe/Berlin) — CET in winter, CEST from 28 March to 31 October 2027.
Germany sits in a single time zone, so these times are the same whether you're in Flensburg, Dresden, Cologne or Garmisch. What does change from place to place is when the Moon is actually above your horizon, and how long it stays there — a full moon at 00:24 looks very different from a farmhouse in Mecklenburg than from a courtyard in Stuttgart.
A phase time is an exact astronomical moment, not a day-long event. The Moon reaches full at a precise instant everywhere on Earth at once; we just label it with our own clock. So a full moon listed here at 00:24 on 21 February is still 23:24 on 20 February in London, and 18:24 the previous evening in New York.

Twelve full moons, one per calendar month, with the traditional names that came into German usage from English almanacs (the older German names are given alongside where they're still used).

| 22 January | 13:17 | Wolf Moon (Wolfsmond) |
| 21 February | 00:24 | Snow Moon (Schneemond) |
| 22 March | 11:44 | Worm Moon (Wurmmond) |
| 21 April | 00:27 | Pink Moon (Rosenmond) |
| 20 May | 12:59 | Flower Moon (Blütenmond) |

| 14 November | 04:26 | Beaver Moon (Bibermond) |
| 13 December | 17:09 | Cold Moon (Kaltmond) |
A few of these are worth marking in a diary.
18 July, 17:45 — the Buck Moon turns full in the late afternoon, which means the Moon rising that evening in the southeast is essentially perfectly full. Around midsummer the full moon stays low across the southern sky from Germany's latitudes, so it looks large and warm-coloured all night.
13 December, 17:09 — the Cold Moon reaches full just after sunset in mid-December. This is the opposite case: the full moon near the winter solstice climbs very high and stays up for sixteen hours or more. If there's snow on the ground, it's the brightest night of the year.
15 October, 15:47 — the Hunter's Moon. It follows the Harvest Moon of 16 September, the full moon nearest the autumn equinox.
New moons in Germany 2027
Thirteen new moons this year, because 2027 opens with one on 7 January and closes with another on 27 December. New moon is the darkest part of the month and the best window for seeing faint things: the Milky Way in summer, meteor showers, the Andromeda Galaxy in autumn.
| Date | Time |

| 6 February | 16:56 |

| 7 April | 01:51 |
| 6 May | 12:59 |
| 4 June | 21:40 |
| 4 July | 05:02 |
| 2 August | 12:05 |
| 31 August | 19:41 |
| 30 September | 04:36 |
| 29 October | 15:37 |
| 28 November | 04:24 |
| 27 December | 21:12 |
August is the month to note: new moons on 2 August and 31 August, so the whole month is bracketed by dark skies. The Perseids peak in the second week of August, and in 2027 they fall between those two new moons, with the Moon near full on 17 August — so the early-August nights are the darker ones.

The clock change, and why it matters here
Germany moves to summer time (CEST) on Sunday 28 March 2027 and back to winter time (CET) on Sunday 31 October 2027. All times above already account for this — they're what a clock in Germany will read.
It's worth knowing because most international moon-phase tables publish in UTC. In winter Germany is UTC+1, in summer UTC+2, and a phase listed at, say, 23:30 UTC can easily land on the following date in German local time. If two sources seem to disagree by a day, a time zone is usually the reason.
Watching, not just reading
A couple of practical notes for German skies:
- First quarter is the best evening for a telescope or binoculars. The Moon is half-lit, craters along the terminator throw long shadows, and it's high in the south at a civilised hour. Look at 15 January, 13 May or 7 October.
- Last quarter belongs to early risers. It rises around midnight and sits high at dawn — good for anyone already awake at 06:00.
- A day either side of new moon gives you a thin crescent low in the west after sunset, or in the east before sunrise. March and September, when the ecliptic stands steepest, are the easiest times to catch one from northern Germany.
Putting the year on a wall
A table is useful for checking a date. It's less useful for seeing the shape of a year — the rhythm of waxing and waning, where a birthday or an anniversary falls in the cycle, how the summer full moons cluster.
That's what our moon calendars are for. You enter your own town — Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig, a village nobody outside the Landkreis has heard of — pick the year and the colours, and the phases are calculated for that location rather than copied from a generic table. You get a print-ready PDF straight away, which you can print at home on A3 or send to a copy shop for something larger.
